Castor oil has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties. Use it for occasional constipation, and topically for dry, cracked skin and acne. Topical castor oil poultices may assist with menstrual, stomach, and muscular cramps. It works very well for pain and inflammation.

Refined castor oil (Ricinus communis) is often added to cosmetic products and other face care products because of its suitability for delicate facial skin. It tames and softens dry, frizzy hair. Massage small amounts of oil into the scalp and hair. Leave overnight. Shampoo and rinse. Repeat once a week.
