Simply Natural is owned by Hilde Nel. She left her teaching position in the Department of Anthropology, University of Stellenbosch, to pursue a career in natural health. Simply Natural's first store opened on 26 October 2000 in Canal Walk Shopping Centre, Century City, Cape Town. In March 2021, Simply Natural launched its online store.
