This orange-yellow powder has been obtained from the dried and ground root of the turmeric plant. It is popular as a spice in South Asian cooking. Turmeric has a peppery, warm, bitter flavour and a mild fragrance. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, tumour-suppressing and detoxification properties. Regular use of turmeric is therefore highly recommended.
