Vitamin E is an excellent antioxidant and may help protect us against heart disease and strokes. It prevents the oxidation of cholesterol and initial damage to arteries that can ultimately lead to atherosclerosis. When taken in high doses vitamin E may also offer significant protection against cancer. Diabetics have an increased need for this fat-soluble vitamin probably because oxidative stress is a major factor in diabetes, but also because it improves insulin action.

Natural vitamin E supplements containing mixed tocopherols and tocotrienols appear to offer the greatest benefit.  Both must be in a natural form designated by the letter d as in d-alpha-tocotrienol. Many supplements have only the synthetic form of vitamin E designated by the letters dl as in dl-alpha-tocopherol.

Willow Vitamin E Advanced contains both tocopherol and tocotrienol compounds in the natural form.

Vitamin E in its natural form of various tocopherols and tocotrienols has been proposed for the prevention of type 1 or 2 diabetes, blood sugar control, clotting problems or clogged arteries in diabetes, and for the prevention of diabetic complications. Vitamin E deficiency has been seen in people with diabetic foot ulcers. Vitamin E is also recommended for those with cataracts, asthma, respiratory infections, skin disorders, aging skin, sunburns, cystic fibrosis, infertility (often called the anti sterility vitamin), impotence, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), peptic ulcers, for certain genetic diseases and to prevent allergies.  It also helps to maintain healthy hair and scalp.
