Castor oil’s use in the cosmetic industry has grown significantly and research into its benefits continues. Its antibacterial, antifungal, and moisturising properties make it a popular natural treatment for common skin ailments.

Castor oil may help reduce foot and toenail fungal infections. Simply soak the feet for five minutes in warm water with Epsom salt. Dry thoroughly and apply castor oil.

Castor oil may be helpful in treating acne-prone skin, and scalp problems. It may stimulate growth and improve the condition of dry, brittle hair. Try it for stretch marks and scars.

Inflammation and free radical damage accelerate skin ageing. Castor oil is renowned for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and wound-healing properties. Its excellent skin penetration ability allows it to transport nutrients into the deeper layers of the skin by external application. For this reason, castor oil can be added to facial masks and skin creams to fight skin ageing. Patch testing is recommended.

Castor oil packs have been used for centuries for aches and pains, including joint and muscular pain, bumps and bruises, menstrual cramps, and spastic colon, to name just a few. The oil may swiftly alleviate headaches. Simply apply a few drops to the forehead and temples and rub in.

Being a very thick oil, one can dilute it with lighter oils such as jojoba or Kalahari melon seed oil.
